SUSTAINABILITY IN PLASTICS PROCESSING
Sustainable action is a top priority for us as a plastics manufacturer. That is why we address the issue of sustainability on several levels and work in harmony with our environment. What exactly does that mean?
Our production facility technically reflects our sense of ecological responsibility – through our energy management system, we always keep an eye on the energy efficiency of our plant. For example, we are modernizing our production and using energy-saving and environmentally friendly electric drives. The drives in all extrusion lines have been replaced and optimized in recent years. In addition, a photovoltaic system is currently being installed on our roof, which will allow us to generate approximately 130,000 kWh/year and save approximately 77,984 kg/year of CO2 starting in the summer of 2023.
With the help of innovative energy technology, we use waste heat from production to support the heating of our offices via heat exchangers. This can prevent massive CO2 emissions. Our energy-saving compressors and cooling units also contribute to this!
RECYCLING OF PLASTICS AT KENOTEC
Recycling is a top priority at Kenotex! We work in an environmentally conscious manner and replace hazardous substances wherever possible. Instead, we use solids. We reduce our production waste by collecting it internally and returning it to the production cycles. For example, we recycle soiled production waste and use it to make our own packaging material.
We monitor and optimize our recycling and waste management. We continuously implement the resulting optimization potential by means of action plans. In the area of bullet traps, a circulation system was set up with the police services. We take back 100% of used slats, recycle the material and make new bullet trap slats from it again. We also take back edge trim, offcuts and rejects from our customers and feed them back into production as recycled material.
